Maria Cabra is an Italian freelance cinematographer based in New York City.
She attended Politecnico di Milano in Italy and has a degree in Industrial Design. In
Milan she started as a follower under the expertise of Maurizio Montagna, and she
made researches in lighting and films stocks as an independent photographer.
She won Bernardo Bertolucci’s Grant in February 2010 Maria moved to New York
she attended a full one-year cinematography hands-on immersion course at New York
Film Academy. She produced and shot short movies, mostly working with the writer/
director Valerie Khoudari Ratner.
She keeps photographing as still photographer and she attended two workshops with
Magnum photographers Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb in 2013.
In 2018 she attended a 35mm workshop in Catania, Italy (Terre di Cinema).
In the last years she worked in features, shorts, documentaries, music videos and commercials productions both in camera and G&E departments
